Requirements and Application

Please read About the Internship carefully before submitting an application.  Incomplete application packages will not be considered.  Applicants must currently be college juniors who will be entering their senior year in the fall of 2012.

The 2012 application form is available here. You must print the completed form and mail it along with the supporting materials listed below to Magazine Internship Program, American Society of Magazine Editors, 810 Seventh Avenue, 24th Floor, New York, NY 10019.

Applications must be postmarked on or before December 1, 2011

Each application must include the following elements:

1. A completed application form. Click here to download.
   
2. A one-page cover letter (addressed to Nina Fortuna, Program Coordinator, ASME) explaining the reasons you want to be in the program and why we should pick you
3. A letter of recommendation from an educator who can attest to your abilities and experience
4. No more than five clips from a college newspaper or magazine or from a newspaper or magazine where you have interned or worked
5. A nonrefundable processing fee of $25. Checks should be made payable to Magazine Publishers of America/ASME

Although not a requirement, a letter from a former ASME intern indicating the applicant's qualifications is a good addition to the application.

Send applications including all required material to the Magazine Internship Program, American Society of Magazine Editors, 810 Seventh Avenue, 24th Floor, New York, NY 10019. They must be postmarked on or before December 1, 2011.
